The Foundation of Stars, formerly known as the Foundation for Research into Children’s Diseases, is recognized as the most important source of non-governmental funding for pediatric research in Quebec. Since its first Telethon of Stars in 1977, the Foundation has distributed $56,114,000 to four state-of-the-art pediatric research centres at the following hospitals: the Montreal Children’s Hospital, Sainte-Justine’s Hospital, the “Centre hospitalier universitaire de Quebec” and the “Centre hospitalier universitaire de Sherbrooke”, as well as to the newly established, Maternal, Infant, Child and Youth Research Network, a pan-Canadian pediatric research network.
